In October of 2020, GSA embarked on MAS Consolidation, which completely changed how contracts can be managed and grown for contractors.  In the past, you needed a new contract for each vertical of products you offer to Federal Government, for example if you were selling IT products on a schedule 70, and you wanted to add photographic equipment, you had to apply for a new contract, going through the entire arduous and expensive process; taking as much as a year or more to procure if at all

Today, under consolidation you have one contract, and now each vertical is called a (SIN) Special Item Number. Existing contracts have been consolidated and combined, but the real opportunity is for current contracts to add new SINs.

Adding new complimentary SINs are an excellent way to expand your contract and become a complete supplier to Federal Customers. In many large bid opportunities, a Federal Buyer will be ordering a wide range of products and if one vendor can meet most or all of the needs for the buyer, the buyer’s workload becomes much less.  For example, an office is adding new staff for their location and they need to order, furniture, computers & monitors, office supplies, etc.  If your contract has SINs for all of these verticals, you can be a one-stop solution for that customer and simplify their ordering process dramatically.

There is complexity in adding SINs to your catalog, as you will need to demonstrate capability to GSA to add a SIN to your contract:

-Commerciality: showing you have sold these items in the past

-Past performance: demonstrate that you have shown an ability to meet the needs of a customer

-Price competitiveness: naturally the government wants to know that you are providing value

-Proper supply channel: you will need appropriate Letters of Supply (LoS)

Our team are experts at breaking down what the Contract Officer is looking for in the application, allowing for the addition of more SINs; and will assist in preparing the necessary documents to expand your contract with these new SINs. With our vendor relationships we can help you in growing your supply contacts to achieve these goals.
